Book your date ASAP!
2010 is proving to be a busy year; we have had 3 weddings confirmed since the New Year alone for dates throughout the Summer. People believe we are moving out of recession and with bookings up on last year, I think people are feeling a little more confident about planning their wedding.
Whether you call the caterers or use the services of another caterer, book the date as soon as you can, we have had to refuse two bookings since the turn of the year with the dates already booked and deposits held to secure the date.
All your plans will be in vain if you come to book your wedding caterer and then find out, the date isn’t available!
Email the chef@callthecaterers.co.uk and we’ll happily provide the dates we have left.
Best wishes for your wedding day.
Congrats to Joe & Tricia
Congratulations to Joe & tricia on your recent wedding, a little belated i know but thanks again for the testimonial.
Tricia you were instrumental with the menu choice, and i know that in particular the sirloin steaks with honey & mustard and Monkfish & apricot skewers proved very popular with your guests. Joe and Tricia opted for a BBQ menu cooked and served outdoors, the weather held and the day was a great success.
I hope you guys had a great day and the part we played added to the success, we look forward to catering at the christening !
Best wishes, Dave and the team…… www.callthecaterers.co.uk
Aston Martin Open day
We recently provided the catering at an open weekend for an Aston Martin dealership, the provision was for a barbecue but requiring something a little more upmarket. Each day started off with breakfast cooked from the bbq, bacon, locally sourced sausage with tomtaoes or egg, just the start to the day the staff in particular needed.

The lunch menu consisted of garlic & lemon tiger prawn skewers, cajun chicken kebebs, a few hotdogs for the kids (just in case) served up with a tangerine and wild herb salad, a new potato salad with creme freiche, mint & asparagus finished off with stawberries & cream.
I believe quite a good weekend for the client with the sale of several vehicles.

Drinks available through the day with the summer fruit pimms proving very popular as well as our own recipe non-alcoholic fruit punch. Great testimonial from the client with promises of further bookings.

Sir paul scott-lee retirement
West Midlands Police Chief constable retirement party, continued.
130 guests were invited and we were tasked to provide a mix of hot and cold canapés about 1000 in total over a 2 hour period, all freshly put together on site.

Fruit punch was ordered as the HQ is a completely alcohol free building, the punch was extremely popular with a traditional recipe of orange and pineapple juice, fresh limes and lemon, finished off with lemonade, ginger ale and plenty of ice.
It proved very popular as my staff couldn’t keep up with mixing fresh jugs, the event was a great success with the feedback very positive and the testimonial even more complimentary.
Chief constable retirement
West Midlands police Chief constable retirement party- April 09
We were contacted by the police authority and asked to quote for a canapé reception they were holding at police HQ in Birmingham, in recognition of the chief constable’s retirement.

We put together a menu consisting of hot and cold canapés with a few favourites like mini Yorkshire puddings topped with a horseradish-mash, finished with rare fillet beef, they always go down well and this was no different.
Others included smoked salmon topped crostinis with caviar and crème freiche, a fusion of goats cheese, sun-dried toms and fresh basil, quails eggs with sweet chilli and fresh coriander.
Hot canapés included asparagus tips wrapped in parmaham, mini chicken tikka kebabs sat on mini popadums with mint and yoghurt.

Hotel or Marquee reception ?
When choosing a venue for your reception consider that holding your Wedding reception at a hotel will limit your choice of caterer but will offer other reward, certain hotels are situated within rolling countryside or on coast lines offering some terrific scenery, their grounds are maintained to a high standard to offer the perfect backdrops, bedrooms are within walking distance which will help at midnight!
Hotels appoint a wedding co-ordinator to manage your plans and the day itself, most hotels will insist you use their in-house caterers to provide your meal as its usually part of their complete package.
There are some extremely good Chefs in hotels around the UK, the food offering will be superb from most venues while the majority will offer good value for money, you may have to be prepared to “share” the grounds as some may well have another reception on the same day.
I did hear one horror story of a guest and his wife arriving late at a wedding, duly escorted into the ceremony only to find them selves at the “wrong wedding” as the ceremony was well under way they felt obliged to stay put and limit any further disruption!
When meeting with the hotel ask the question, several hotels will only host one reception of a certain size but others still encourage hosting one or more.
